In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a Catholic boarding school for boys becomes the backdrop for an unexpected and poignant friendship. Julien, a restless and solitary young boy, lives a life marked by the routine of school and the distant presence of his parents. Everything changes with the arrival of a new classmate, Jean, a reserved and mysterious boy who, at first, doesn’t quite fit into this world of privilege and strict rules.

As Julien and Jean become friends, the innocence of childhood intertwines with the harsh reality of the war looming over them. Julien discovers that Jean is Jewish and is in hiding from the Nazi regime, which adds a layer of tension and danger to their relationship. Through moments of camaraderie and shared secrets, the boys confront the fears of the outside world while experiencing the typical mischief of youth.

However, the peace of their world begins to crumble when the Nazis start to hunt down Jews, and the boarding school becomes a place of betrayal and surveillance. The friendship between Julien and Jean transforms into a symbol of love and sacrifice, leading them to confront heart-wrenching realities. This emotive story captures the loss of innocence and the terrifying impact of war, starkly yet beautifully reminding us of the power of friendship in dark times.
