In a quiet town in Maine, the life of a middle-aged couple takes an unexpected turn after a shocking event. Matt and Ruth, both teachers, enjoy a peaceful and orderly existence, but their world is shaken when their son, a young musical prodigy, begins dating an older woman, a divorced mother with a complicated past. At first, the parents try to be understanding and accept the relationship, but they soon realize that their son's life is filled with risks and conflicts that they cannot foresee.

When the new couple becomes caught in a spiral of jealousy, disappointments, and drastic decisions, the tension escalates and the wounds of the past resurface. A tragic incident plunges the family into a whirlwind of pain and revenge, exposing the deep fractures that often exist in the closest relationships. As the story unfolds, the characters confront complicated ethical dilemmas and the struggle for justice, leading to a profound exploration of loss, love, and vengeance.

With an intimate and emotional focus, the narrative reveals how traumatic events can change a family's life forever, inviting the audience to reflect on the fragility of happiness and the difficult choices that sometimes must be made. Ultimately, it is a story that confronts the complexities of love and the tragedy of decisions that shape the course of our lives.
