In this romantic comedy, we meet Julian, a charming yet somewhat carefree dentist in his late 30s, who leads a rather undemanding life in New York City. However, things get complicated when he decides to invent a story to avoid a real commitment with his passionate young lover, Toni. Not wanting to complicate his life, he tells Toni that he is married and therefore cannot be truly involved. But when she demands to meet his "wife," Julian is forced to come up with a desperate plan.
His solution is to ask his assistant, the funny and delightful Ellen, to play the role of his wife. Although she initially resists the idea, Ellen eventually agrees, only to realize that things wonβt be as simple as she thought. As the three of them get tangled up in this complicated web of lies, the chemistry between Julian and Ellen becomes increasingly evident, making the situation more complicated than a three-piece puzzle. Can Julian handle his feelings while trying to keep his deception afloat?
With a star-studded cast that includes Walter Matthau, Goldie Hawn, and Ingrid Bergman, this film becomes a clever exploration of relationships, love, and self-acceptance. With hilarious and sweet moments, the story reminds us that often the most beautiful truths arise from the most tangled situations.
