Canoa: A Shameful Memory

  • Log in or register to post comments

In a quiet village in Mexico, a group of young people decides to enjoy a weekend in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. What begins as a getaway filled with laughter and fun turns into a nightmare when a tragic event exposes the hidden tensions within the community. Everything seems to be going normally until a series of unfortunate events ensnares the friends in a web of confusion, fears, and prejudices that transform the atmosphere of camaraderie into a witch hunt.

As one person is accused of a terrible crime, paranoia erupts among the locals. The story unfolds in a hostile environment where solidarity turns into distrust, and honor into impulsive vengeance. With a focus on moral dilemmas and the devastating effects of rumor, the narrative explores how fears and deeply rooted beliefs can lead to the dehumanization of an individual.

With well-crafted characters and a historical backdrop that depicts the political tension in Mexico during the 1970s, the film becomes a mirror of society, leaving viewers reflecting on guilt and collective memory. The work delves into the tragedy of a shameful event that is never forgotten, inviting the audience to question the role each person plays in creating narratives that define history.
