The Carabineers

In a dystopian and surreal world, two peasants, Ulysse and Michel, live in poverty and despair, dreaming of adventures that will lift them out of their monotonous daily life. Their existence changes drastically when they are recruited by a mysterious army that promises riches and glory. The starting point of their journey is a war expedition that, with an almost satirical vision, reveals the dehumanization and futility of conflict.

As the two men immerse themselves in a senseless war reality, their ambition leads them to participate in an army that traverses various abstractly constructed scenarios. These men find themselves caught in a cruel game where war, far from being a heroic act, becomes a series of absurdities and brutalities that question the value of life and the morality of the ideals for which they supposedly fight.

With an innovative visual style and a provocative approach, the plot intertwines with surreal scenes that parody the concepts of war and patriotism. Ulysse and Michel, in their quest for wealth and fame, will soon discover that what they truly desire may lie far beyond victory on the battlefield; a journey towards self-understanding in a world that seems to ignore the true meaning of humanity. Get ready for a work that will not only make you laugh but also provoke deep reflection!
