In the bustling London of the 1930s, a desperate antiques dealer stumbles upon a mysterious Chinese ceramic plate that apparently holds immense value. Plagued by debts and with time against him, he becomes obsessed with the idea of selling the piece to change his fortunes. However, the plate is not just a simple decorative object; it harbors a dark secret that connects it to a series of tragic events in his family's past.

As our protagonist delves into the world of art and auctions, he encounters a gallery of eccentric characters: a cynical museum inspector, an elegant art collector with her own hidden interests, and a young artist in search of inspiration. The tension escalates when the seller discovers that several people are willing to do whatever it takes to obtain the plate, even crossing the thin line between legality and criminality.

As an intrigue unfolds filled with unexpected twists, the protagonist must confront his own demons and decide how far he is willing to go for money and recognition. In this journey, he not only questions the true meaning of material value but also what he is willing to sacrifice for a little glory, leading him to an unexpected conclusion that will change his life forever.
