In the 1920s, a poor office worker finds himself caught in a series of hilarious misadventures when a group of convicts escapes from the prison in his town. Shortly after an unfortunate twist of fate, the protagonist becomes embroiled in a monumental mix-up and ends up being mistaken for one of the escaped prisoners. As chaos erupts around him, he is forced to act like a criminal to survive in a world where the law plays by its own rules.
With the help of a fellow criminal, who has his own agenda in mind, the protagonist tries to quickly learn the unwritten rules of the criminal underworld. However, his inexperience leads to comedic situations where his attempts to impress his new "friends" end in calamities and laughter. From plans going awry to encounters with dangerous mobsters, each new challenge tests his wit and ability to adapt.
At the same time, he has a romantic interest who continually worries about his lack of criminal skills. As the story unfolds, he finds himself facing a dilemma between fleeing his new life or finding a way to return to his usual routine. In an unexpected conclusion, the boundaries between right and wrong blur, leading to a finale where friendship, love, and a sense of duty intertwine, all wrapped up in laughter and surprisingly absurd situations.
