In a small village in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century, a young woman named Marta lives with her mother in a rural environment marked by poverty and strict traditions. After losing her father in an accident at the local factory, Marta becomes the pillar of her home, helping her mother with the farming tasks and household chores. Despite the hardships, she dreams of a life outside the village, exploring the world and love.
Everything changes when a group of workers arrives in the village seeking support for an upcoming strike at the factory. Marta is intrigued by one of them, Marco, an idealistic young man fighting for workers' rights who has a radical perspective on life. Through their relationship, Marta begins to awaken to a new reality, questioning the rules of her life and her place in the world.
However, the struggle for justice at the factory triggers tensions with the community and the authorities. As the passion between Marta and Marco grows, so does the conflict, leading our protagonist to a crossroads: to follow her mother's path or to risk everything for her ideals and love. As the strike turns violent, Marta must decide who she truly is and what future she wants to build, confronting the ingrained convictions of a society that refuses to change.
