In a small Australian town in 1969, a group of engineers and scientists prepares for an event that will change the course of humanity: the live transmission of man’s arrival on the moon. The project, located in a remote radio station equipped with a huge dish, becomes the focal point of the story.
The plot follows a team led by the lovable yet somewhat disorganized Cliff, who, despite his technical knowledge, struggles to keep the morale high among his team, made up of quirky and endearing characters. From his assistant, the nervous and comedic Derek, to the wise but somewhat eccentric Roy, they all face unexpected challenges as they try to fulfill their mission. The arrival of a NASA executive to oversee the event adds comedic tension, as she has a much more stringent vision of how things should be run.
As the townspeople watch the preparations with a mix of skepticism and excitement, the dish becomes a symbol of unity. However, a series of technical failures and comedic mishaps threaten to ruin the grand spectacle. Amidst all this, the team discovers the importance of collaboration, community, and the human spirit, leading the story to an exciting and touching climax that celebrates the history of space and the humility of a small community willing to make history.
