Drowning by Numbers

In a picturesque English village, three women, all named C, find themselves entangled in a dark game of death and mystery. Each of them is trapped in a monotonous and oppressive life, marked by problematic relationships with their husbands. In a macabre twist of fate, all three decide to get rid of their respective partners by drowning them in a nearby lake. What seemed like a perfect plan quickly devolves into an absurd and surreal tangle, full of irony and dark humor.

As the Cs attempt to conceal their crime, a series of unexpected events takes their plot for a spin. A meticulous policeman, who always seems a step ahead, becomes an obstacle for them. But that’s not all; they must also grapple with the implications of their actions while dealing with their own emotions and traumas.

With a visual style that defies cinematic conventions, the film combines dark humor with a poetic and often dreamlike narrative. Elements of play and numerical symbolism highlight every decision they make. Tension rises as the three women are pushed to confront not only the men they left behind but also their own identity and complicity in a society that has imposed restrictive roles on them. This work is a fascinating journey that simultaneously entertains and provokes reflections on life, death, and the struggle for personal freedom.
