In a small German town, a young man named Dudu faces the challenges of daily life and the expectations of his family. Dudu is a dreamer, an artist in a world that seems to value his passion little. His life takes an unexpected turn when, after discovering the meaning of love, he falls hopelessly in love with a young woman named Mariette, who represents everything he longs for: freedom, beauty, and joy.
As their relationship intensifies, Dudu begins to be swept away by the emotional turmoil that love brings and the struggle to find his identity. However, family tensions and social pressures threaten to tear them apart. His father, a strict and traditional man, views art as a frivolity and pressures Dudu to settle for a secure and dull job. Caught between duty and desire, Dudu embarks on an internal quest that leads him to explore his own artistic talent while attempting to prove to his father that his hobby has a purpose.
Set against the backdrop of a Germany recovering from World War I, the film addresses themes of love, sacrifice, and the search for personal authenticity. Through a unique blend of visual and emotional elements, Dudu's story becomes a moving portrait of the struggle to be oneself in a world that often demands conformity.
