A group of teenagers embarks on an unexpected journey into a terrifying experience at a summer camp that just so happens to be the setting of a cult slasher film starring one of their mothers, Max. After an accident at the movie theater, Max and her friends are magically transported into the film in which her mother acted, becoming trapped in a brutal world where they must survive a masked killer determined to eliminate everyone.
At first, the situation seems like total chaos, but soon Max and her friends realize that their knowledge of genre conventions might be the key to survival. Each of them tries to leverage their understanding of horror cinema to anticipate the killer's moves, offering a curious twist to the narrative. As they attempt to find a way out, the group grapples with their own personal demons and the complex dynamics of their friendship, revealing unexpected secrets along the way.
The movie is an ingenious blend of laughter, tears, and scares, where humor and nostalgia intertwine brilliantly. As the characters confront their fears, they are forced to re-examine Max's mother's legacy and their own identities amidst the clichés of horror films. But will they be able to outsmart their fate and escape this celluloid nightmare alive?
