In a small American town during the Depression, a group of unemployed youths comes together to face the harsh economic reality. Upon discovering a food establishment that offers free lunches to those who cannot afford to eat, they decide to seize the opportunity and make this place their headquarters. The friends, each with their unique personality, begin to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and optimism, transforming the venue into a refuge for others who are struggling with scarcity.

Over time, the antics of the kids attract the attention of an ambitious journalist, who sees in them a story worthy of becoming news. However, their success also piques the interest of the establishment's owners, who view the new atmosphere as a threat to their business. Tension mounts as the friends must balance their attempts to support one another and find new ways to survive, while the journalist grapples with the decision to help them or pursue his own story.

Amid laughter, tears, and moments of genuine friendship, the story touches on universal themes such as solidarity and the struggle for a better future in difficult times. With touches of humor and emotional situations, the group is not only looking to fill their stomachs but also to discover the true meaning of community and hope, as they confront a system that seems to be against them. The film is a moving and funny reflection of a complicated era, where unity and joy become true wealth.
