In the vibrant and bright Liverpool of the 1970s, a shy and disillusioned shoemaker named Eddie Ginley feels trapped in the routine of his daily life. Driven by his unbridled passion for detective novels, Eddie decides to take an unexpected turn in his existence and becomes a private detective. Soon, he finds himself caught in a chaos of intrigue and twists that he never imagined even in his wildest fantasies.

Eddie's life complicates when an enigmatic woman hires him to investigate a mysterious murder. As he delves into a world filled with eccentric characters, such as a small-time gangster and a couple of rival detectives who always seem to be one step ahead of him, Eddie discovers that reality is much more confusing and dangerous than the fiction he loves so much.

With his innocent clumsiness and unwavering sense of justice, Eddie becomes the unexpected piece of a puzzle in which loyalty and betrayal dance in a strange choreography. While trying to unravel the conspiracy surrounding him, Eddie learns that being a hero doesn't always mean being brave, and that sometimes, the greatest challenge is confronting the truth about oneself.

This intriguing thriller blends comedy and drama, taking us on a unique journey full of unexpected twists and a distinct flavor of English culture. Eddie is not only pursuing a criminal but also his own identity, in a process filled with laughter and reflection.
