On a dark and melancholic night in Milan, a famous writer and his wife attend an elegant party at the home of a friend, a wealthy industrialist who has fallen into the abyss of decay. As the night progresses, the couple finds themselves trapped in an atmosphere of discontent and disenchantment. Communication between them becomes increasingly tense, revealing the cracks in their relationship and the dissatisfaction they both feel with their lives.

The writer, overwhelmed by the pressure of his profession and the expectations of society, is drawn to a young and enigmatic woman who embodies everything his life is not: freedom, passion, and carefreeness. Meanwhile, his wife, caught in the routine and in the shadow of her husband’s ambitions, reflects on her own choices and unfulfilled desires.

Through furtive encounters and dialogues laden with meaning, tensions escalate and hidden secrets are revealed. The night transforms into an introspective journey where both characters confront their pasts and what they truly want for the future. Set against a backdrop of melancholy and disillusionment, the story unfolds within a social and cultural context that highlights the fragility of human relationships. Essentially, it is a vivid exploration of love, loneliness, and the quest for identity in a world that seems to demand more than they are willing to give.
