In a hot and tense summer in a small town in the southern United States, the lives of the inhabitants are disrupted by the arrival of an enigmatic outsider. Ben Quick is a mischievous young man seeking new opportunities, but his charismatic personality soon stirs curiosity and resentment in the community. With his rebellious spirit and a history full of mysteries, Ben becomes the center of attention, especially for the Pollitt family, a wealthy clan brimming with secrets.

The patriarch, Will, feels threatened by Ben’s presence, who not only has captured the attention of his attractive and frustrated daughter, Clara, but also seems to possess an unusual power over all the family members. As conflicts between classes and repressed passions emerge, tensions begin to escalate. The story becomes entangled in a dangerous game of emotional manipulation and broken promises.

As the family's secrets start to surface, the characters must confront not only their internal struggles but also the power dynamics surrounding them. With memorable performances and an atmosphere charged with sensuality and drama, the sweltering summer turns into a battleground where desires, jealousy, and ambitions intertwine explosively, revealing how life in a small town can be more complex than it seems.
