In the 1940s, a young science student, Dr. Ted Allison, becomes obsessed with the mysteries of life and death. Driven by his desire to transcend the barriers of nature, he begins experimenting with revival techniques in his laboratory. However, his experiments do not go as he expected: he accidentally awakens a strange and macabre being that, under the influence of a powerful and inexplicable poison, becomes a ghoul. This being, once a brilliant colleague of Dr. Ted, now transforms into a creature that devours human organs to survive.
As Ted grapples with his scientific curiosity and the horror of what he has created, the ghoul begins to stalk his loved ones, destabilizing the peace of his world. Amidst the chaos, Ted's girlfriend, the charming and determined Evelyn, becomes an unwitting target in the ghoul's hunt.
