Pastoral: To Die in the Country

  • Log in or register to post comments

In a small and remote Japanese village, the daily routine of its inhabitants is suddenly disrupted by a series of mysterious deaths that begin to threaten the tranquility of the place. It all starts when an elderly man, beloved by many, is found lifeless in his home, apparently due to an accident. As rumors begin to circulate, other forgotten memories emerge, revealing dark secrets and old grudges that resonate in the air. The community, although united by tradition, finds itself engulfed in an atmosphere of distrust and tension.

The story follows a young city doctor who arrives in the village to help the population but quickly becomes part of the turmoil. With his desire to unravel the truth behind these deaths, the doctor delves into the lives of the locals, uncovering the complexities of their relationships and the emotional burdens they carry. The conversations and confrontations between the characters reveal not only the pain of the past but also an internal struggle between duty, guilt, and love.

Amidst this emotional storm, the doctor faces the dilemma of whether to return to urban life or to stay and help heal the community's wounds. With each revelation, it becomes evident that true death goes beyond the physical, and what is truly lost are the human bonds that connect people.
