In a quiet Japanese village during the years of World War II, the life of a humble fisherman takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious stranger arrives on the shore. This stranger, a man marked by sadness and rootlessness, becomes a beacon of hope for the fisherman and his family, who are facing scarcity and the ravages of war. The story follows this group as they struggle to find their place in a world that seems to be crumbling around them.

As the friendship between the fisherman and the stranger deepens, the village becomes a microcosm of human struggle, where kindness and solidarity shine amid darkness. The fisherman, who once felt trapped by the limitations of his life, begins to discover a new perspective on hope and resilience. However, the arrival of news about an imminent draft for military service creates tensions, testing relationships and revealing the latent fears within the community.

Set against a backdrop of serene landscapes and with cinematography that captures the essence of rural life, the film combines drama and reflection with a touch of melancholy. As the characters confront their own demons while supporting each other, the film reminds us of the beauty of small human connections, even in the darkest moments of history.
