In a lonely mansion in the English countryside, a renowned detective finds himself grappling with a case that will test both his cunning and his morals. Following a macabre discovery, the detective is called in to investigate the murder of a prominent local lord, whose lifeless body has been found in his study. The evidence points to a series of potential suspects: from his jealous wife to a mysterious visitor who appeared in the village just before the crime.

As he unravels the web of secrets and lies surrounding the victim, the detective encounters unexpected twists that complicate every lead. Each of the characters has something to hide, and the game of cat and mouse intensifies as shocking revelations come to light. The atmosphere becomes more tense with each interrogation, as the detective pieces together the puzzle of the lord's life, uncovering family intrigues, unexpected rivalries, and old grudges.

In an electrifying climax, the detective realizes that the true mystery is not just who committed the murder, but why each of the characters was willing to play dirty. The film culminates in a stunning conclusion that questions the nature of justice and truth, prompting the audience to reflect on the blurred lines between good and evil in the intricate game of crime.
