In a small town in Georgia, the lives of the Luster family are falling apart as they try to survive amid the Great Depression. The patriarch, Jeff Luster, is a man who has seen better days and dreams of reclaiming his former glory and his decaying farm, surrounded by an environment that reflects a constant struggle for the little they have left. With a wife grappling with her own disappointments and a son looking to escape from poverty, the family finds themselves trapped in a cycle of disillusionment and misery.

Meanwhile, their daughter, who dreams of a better life, begins to flirt with the idea of escaping the clutches of their familial fate. The situation complicates with the arrival of a stranger who promises to help them find a way out, but his intentions are as uncertain as the promises of prosperity in such difficult times. As tensions rise, the Lusters are forced to confront their own demons and the choices they've made, reflecting on the meaning of dignity and ambition in a world that seems to have turned its back on them.

With a touch of dark humor and a raw portrayal of the struggle for survival, the film offers an intense and moving look at the hopes and dreams of those who inhabit the depths of misery, challenging them to find a spark of hope amid adversity.
