In a small and sleepy town, a rebellious young woman named Maria, who has just finished high school, feels trapped in a world of family expectations and the pressure to follow a conventional path. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a boy named Jodie, a young man who, despite his apparent disorganization and carefree attitude, has a unique outlook on life. As their relationship develops, Maria begins to question the power structures around her and challenge the norms that have been imposed on her.

The plot intensifies when things get complicated upon discovering that Jodie has his own troubled past. The connection they have formed becomes a refuge amidst the chaos that his family brings into Maria's life, creating a series of conflicts as they both try to find their place in the world. The decisions they make not only affect their lives but also those around them, leading to a series of events that test their love and mutual trust.

With a tone that blends darkening comedy and drama, the film tackles themes such as personal growth, the search for identity, and the struggle against adversity. On this journey of discovery, both Maria and Jodie will have to learn the true meaning of freedom and self-trust, facing fun dances and heartbreaking moments along the way.
