In a forgotten corner of Mexico, a former British diplomat, Geoffrey Firmin, leads a life marked by alcohol abuse and shadows of his past. As the country teeters on the brink of revolution, Geoffrey feels trapped between his tumultuous personal life and the echoes of a colonial history that haunts him. As he immerses himself in a world of wild parties, fleeting encounters, and painful memories, his relationships with two women become complicated yet temporary refuges: his ex-wife, who still harbors deep love for him, and a young mistress seeking her own path amid the chaos.

Confronting his inner demons and navigating a landscape of political tensions and social conflict, Geoffrey becomes a reflection of the decay and unease of an era. In his quest for redemption and meaning, he faces decisions that could change his life forever. The vibrant setting and the magnitude of the crisis around him elevate his personal journey to a universal struggle against despair and the longing for hope.

With immersive direction and memorable performances, the story unfolds as a tragic ode to lost love, the search for meaning amid hopelessness, and the inevitable confrontation with one's own mortality. Geoffrey will ultimately find himself on the edge of a precipice between salvation and self-destruction.
