In a post-apocalyptic world, a man awakens from a long slumber in a desolate city where humanity seems to have vanished. Adam (played by Harry Belafonte) is a miner who, following a nuclear disaster, finds himself alone in an environment that once buzzed with life. Overwhelmed by loneliness, his fortune changes when he meets a woman, Sarah (played by Inger Stevens), who has also survived the chaos. However, the situation complicates when they discover they are not the only ones in this new world: a third survivor, a man named Benson (played by Mel Ferrer), unexpectedly appears.

As the three of them try to rebuild their lives and explore their new reality, tensions arise between them. Adam and Sarah feel a unique connection, but Benson’s presence adds a layer of rivalry, as he sees Sarah as a prize to be won. What begins as a collaboration for survival transforms into a moral and emotional dilemma, exploring the limits of humanity, primal desires, and the instinct to possess in a world where the rules have changed.

Set against a science fiction backdrop, this story becomes a reflection on human nature, our deepest fears and desires, demonstrating how, in the struggle for life, both hope and conflict arise. The film raises questions about loneliness, coexistence, and what it truly means to be human in a desolate world.
