In a 1970s setting, a group of independent filmmakers ventures into the forests of Texas to shoot a horror movie that they hope will catapult them to stardom. Led by an ambitious director, the team consists of a diverse group, including a star actress, her boyfriend, a cameraman, and a couple of energetic actors. However, what begins as a dream of glamour and fame quickly turns into a nightmare when they discover that the locals are anything but friendly.
As they settle into a remote farmhouse to film their most daring scenes, tension and paranoia begin to rise among the crew. As the story of their movie unfolds, increasingly strange and violent events start to occur, transforming their film project into a true horror. With a dark sense of humor and a deconstruction of the slasher genre, the characters face their own demons, both on and off camera.
The situation escalates when the group endures a series of chilling encounters with the unsettling owners of the farmhouse, who seem to have their own sinister secrets. What was once a quest for artistic freedom becomes a desperate struggle for survival, as the lines between fiction and reality blur, revealing that the laws of horror are not always made on screen.
