Set against the turbulent backdrop of the late 1960s in the United States, the story follows a young student named Mark, who feels trapped in the abyss between his academic life and the growing social frustration. After participating in a student protest that ends in chaos, he decides to escape to the desert of California, where he seeks answers and a sense of freedom.

During his journey, he crosses paths with Daria, a charming secretary at a company who, despite her seemingly perfect life, also experiences her own identity crisis. Drawn together by their revolutionary ideals, the two characters embark on a journey of self-discovery, filled with symbolism and emotional tension. As they explore the vast and breathtaking landscapes of the desert, their connection erupts into a whirlwind of love and rebellion.

The backdrop of the story depicts a country in turmoil, with references to hippie culture, consumerism, and the Vietnam War. Throughout the narrative, surreal images and dreamlike moments intertwine, offering a critique of materialism and societal alienation. The climax of the film arrives in a visually striking sequence, where dreams and reality collide in an explosion of sensations. Ultimately, the plot invites viewers to reflect on the quest for freedom and the true meaning of life in a world that seems to be crumbling.
