In 1920s Germany, a young idealist named Alfred von Ingelheim struggles with his identity and his place in a world undergoing significant transformation. Raised in a wealthy family, Alfred feels trapped by the opulence and superficiality that surround him. As the country faces social and political tensions, he yearns for a deeper purpose beyond money and family wealth.

During a trip to Berlin, Alfred immerses himself in the vibrant artistic life of the capital, where he meets Lena, a bold painter who challenges societal norms. Drawn to her passion and free spirit, Alfred begins to explore his own creativity and embarks on a romantic relationship with Lena that puts his family convictions at risk. However, the struggle to remain true to himself and his ideals intensifies as the conservative forces of his social circle attempt to separate them.

As the tension between his privileged life and his desire for freedom becomes unsustainable, Alfred faces difficult decisions that could change everything. Amidst a country on the brink of political instability, his journey toward self-acceptance becomes a powerful reflection of the struggle between the past and the search for a new identity. The story is an emotional journey that explores the complexity of love, freedom, and the quest for meaning in a chaotic world. It is a masterpiece of silent cinema that leaves the viewer contemplating the cost of conformity and the power of individuality.
