In the dark context of occupied Europe during World War II, a young SS officer, Kurt Gerstein, finds himself trapped between his loyalty to his homeland and the horrors he witnesses day after day in the concentration camps. As he witnesses the brutality of the Nazi regime, especially the atrocities committed against the Jews, his conscience begins to torment him. Distressed by his role in this oppressive system, Kurt tries to bring his concerns to the Catholic Church, hoping that his voice might influence public opinion and stop the massacre.

However, his path is not easy. He encounters a world of complicity and silence, where fear and indifference have paralyzed consciences. Throughout his journey, he meets a rabbi who helps him explore the moral dilemma he faces. As the actions of the Nazis become increasingly evident and alarming, Kurt is forced to question how far his responsibility extends. The film presents a stark portrayal of the struggle between faith, morality, and action in a world torn apart by war. With every decision he makes, he faces the possibility of becoming a hero or becoming complicit in evil himself. The story culminates in a reflection on the importance of raising one’s voice against injustice, even when doing so may mean risking everything.
