In a small and picturesque German village at the end of the 19th century, two pharmacists, Julchen and Jettchen, find themselves caught between familial duty and their hearts overflowing with love. Both daughters of renowned apothecaries, they have grown up in the family store, learning the secrets of herbs and potions, but their dreams go far beyond jars and prescriptions.

Julchen, the elder and more responsible one, is engaged to a young ambitious man she does not love, while Jettchen, full of life and a free spirit, has set her sights on a handsome traveler who arrives in the village with tales of adventure and promises of a new life. As the summer festivals approach, the tension between their expectations and desires begins to escalate.

The plot thickens further when the rivalry between the pharmacy families intensifies, and Julchen and Jettchen must decide whether to follow the path society has laid out for them or risk everything for love. In this charming tale of friendship, unrequited love, and bravery, the two young women struggle to find their own voice in a world that tells them they must conform. With touches of comedy and a heartfelt portrayal of the fight for independence, it is a story that resonates with the struggle for love and self-determination in difficult times.
