On a small British island in the English Channel, preparations for an important horse auction are interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. The island's owner, the eccentric and wealthy Sir Charles, finds himself in a complicated situation when he realizes that his youth and dreams of an idyllic future are in jeopardy due to the German occupation. As the island becomes a strategic point for naval forces, a group of locals decides to organize a desperate plan to keep their land safe.

Among a handful of colorful characters, including a brave young man named William, who becomes the leader of the group, the story blends comedy and drama as the islanders devise a clever plan to save their community. In their attempt to thwart the German invaders, the protagonists become embroiled in a series of hilarious mishaps and misunderstandings that test their resourcefulness and solidarity.

The film explores themes of patriotism and unity in difficult times, all while featuring moments of sweetness and humor in the fight against an enemy that seems unbeatable. Through their journey, the characters discover not only what it means to fight for their home but also the importance of friendship and love in the face of adversity. In the end, the island becomes a symbol of resistance and hope against the darkness looming over Europe.
