In the midst of the arid Arizona desert, a man named Cable Hogue finds himself in a desperate situation after being abandoned by his companions. Life has presented him with a monumental challenge, as he is forced to survive in a hostile and lonely environment. However, luck smiles upon him when he discovers a hidden spring that gives him hope and the opportunity to start anew. With his ingenuity and determination, Cable decides to transform this place into a personal oasis and gradually puts in the effort and dedication to turn the area into an attractive destination for travelers.

Over time, Hogue becomes the center of attention in the region, attracting strangers and fortune seekers, including a quirky pair of characters: a preacher and a prostitute. As Cable embraces his new role as a desert entrepreneur, he must confront the ghosts of his past and the complicated relationships that form around him. The story explores themes of loneliness, redemption, and the search for love in the most unexpected circumstances.

With a tone that shifts from comedy to drama, Hogue's life becomes a reflection on the struggle to find a place in the world while facing challenges and decisions that will change his life forever. In an environment where the desert is as vast as the protagonist's longings, the story unfolds with touches of humor and a profound sense of humanity.
