In a high school in New York, a group of troubled students faces the arrival of a new teacher, a young idealist named Richard Dadier. With enthusiasm and a renewed spirit, Dadier attempts to change the hostile and violent classroom culture, where students not only challenge his authority but also fight among themselves in an environment charged with racial and social tension. From the very first day, Dadier realizes that he is not just teaching math and English; he also has to deal with juvenile delinquents, the apathy of his colleagues, and the pressures of the educational system.

Among the students stands out the charismatic yet rebellious Miller, who becomes a rival to both Dadier and the system. As tensions rise, Dadier tries to connect with the boys, finding moments of humanity that challenge his perception of them. However, each attempt is met with resistance, violence, and distrust.

Through a powerful portrayal of the educational reality of the time, the story explores themes such as violence, inequality, and hope amidst chaos. Dadier's passion for teaching leads him to question his own morality and the impact he can have as an educator. The film culminates in a striking climax, where the value of his convictions is put to the test in an environment that seems to be against him.
