In late 1960s France, an emotional storm erupts when a woman decides to end her unhappy marriage. Emma, a mother trapped in a monotonous routine and a toxic relationship, reaches a breaking point and makes the decision to leave her husband, who is not only indifferent to her feelings but also engages in a constant infidelity that has worn down her love.

As Emma ventures into this new life, she faces a series of challenges and discoveries. From the struggle for custody of her children to the social pressure on a woman seeking a fresh start, the protagonist navigates a world where love and freedom seem to be in constant conflict. Her quest for independence leads her to meet a charismatic man who helps her rediscover her own identity and leave behind the shadow of her past.

However, while Emma tries to build a bright future, her ex-husband is not willing to let her go so easily. The tension between the characters escalates in a series of dramatic encounters that test their new bonds and deepest desires. The film is a powerful portrayal of the struggle for female autonomy at a time when social conventions begin to crumble, and it questions what it truly means to find happiness in a world that often seems at odds with women's dreams.
