In a quiet and boring American town, a simple phone call triggers a series of events that will test the morality and sanity of the involved characters. The story revolves around a fast-food restaurant, where the manager, Patty, receives a call from a supposed police officer accusing one of her employees, Becky, of stealing from a customer. As the conversation unfolds, the officer demands Patty carry out a series of humiliating and abusive orders to "investigate" the situation.
Initially skeptical but gripped by panic, Patty is drawn into a power game where the authority of the voice on the phone threatens legal consequences. With the complicity of some employees, the situation becomes increasingly disturbing and surreal, affecting the dynamics and trust between them. Becky, trapped in the break room, becomes the victim of an agonizing series of interrogations and abuses, while the tension mounts and common sense seems to evaporate.
As the boundaries of obedience and manipulation blur, the film raises unsettling questions about the nature of authority, conformity, and the human capacity to justify horrific acts in the name of obedience. How far will the characters go to follow the orders of someone who, although invisible, seems to have absolute control over the situation?
