In a sunny yet shadowy Los Angeles of the 1960s, a cunning private detective, known for his laid-back style and penchant for fistfights, is hired to find a missing woman. His search leads him into a world of lies, secrets, and a handful of eccentric characters who inhabit the shadows of society. The woman in question is Elaine, the beautiful yet troubled wife of a business magnate, and her trail intertwines with an intriguing web of corruption and betrayal.

As the detective delves deeper into the case, he discovers that Elaine is not just a victim; she is more entwined with the criminal underworld than she appears. The clues lead him to a jazz club where the music and dim lights conceal chilling truths. With the help of a couple of unexpected allies, he faces thugs and deception, always maintaining that characteristic touch of black humor.

Haunted by a troubled past and surrounded by moral dilemmas in the present, our hero realizes that in this dangerous game, every decision has consequences. Amidst chases, encounters with femme fatales, and startling revelations, the pursuit of truth transforms into a fight for survival as he unveils the dark connections between a disappearance and a scandal that could shake high society. In the end, he will be forced to question not only the nature of crime but also his own motivations and loyalties.
