In a remote port of Java, a young engineer named Paul Armitage arrives on the island with big dreams and ambitions. Fascinated by the exotic life and vibrant surroundings, Paul is immediately drawn to the beauty of a local woman, Djiwa, who is both a symbol of Javanese culture and a reflection of the battle between the ancient and the modern. The connection between Paul and Djiwa not only transcends cultural barriers but also awakens in him a deep longing for what he has left behind.

However, the story takes a dramatic turn when Paul finds himself caught in a web of intrigue and local rivalries, while also facing the growing tension between his Western world and Javanese traditions. As the narrative unfolds, loyalties are tested, and old grudges resurface, unleashing chaos that threatens their future together.

Amidst overflowing passions and conflicting interests, Paul’s struggle becomes a symbol of the clash between modernity and tradition. Will he be able to find a path that connects him with Djiwa without losing himself in the process? With lush landscapes and intense drama, this film explores the complexities of love and identity in a constantly changing world, where every choice can alter the course of the lives involved.
