In this masterful work of film noir, a group of criminals joins forces to carry out a heist at a racetrack in an ambitious plan that promises to change their lives forever. Johnny Clay, an experienced thief just out of prison, is the mastermind behind this meticulously orchestrated operation. With the help of a diverse team that includes an old accomplice, a disillusioned ex-cop, and a fearful gambler, the crew sets out to execute their plan in a single day, just days before an exciting horse race.

However, as the day of the crime unfolds, tension mounts and the characters begin to reveal their true intentions, generating distrust and doubt within the group. As each one faces their own demons, unexpected complications arise that threaten to derail the entire plan. With an innovative visual style and a narrative that plays with the structure of time, the protagonists find themselves caught in a spiral of betrayal and misery.

The imminent sense of danger is palpable, and every decision could be their last. In this game of luck and desperation, the viewer is left wondering who will ultimately come out on top by the end of the day. The film culminates in a series of unexpected twists, demonstrating that even the most elaborate plans can crumble like a house of cards.
