Set in the turbulent times leading up to World War I, this captivating story follows a young idealist named Oliver, who is deeply drawn to the idea of heroism and the romanticism of war. As his friends enlist for the impending conflict, Oliver, coming from a wealthy family that opposes the war, wrestles with his desire to prove his bravery and his loyalty to his family's values.

On the other hand, the beautiful and determined Elise, a volunteer nurse, is willing to give everything up to help wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Their chance encounter at a social event ignites a spark between them, challenging Oliver's ideals and opening his eyes to the harsh realities of war. As preparations for the conflict intensify, Oliver makes the decision to enlist, vowing to protect Elise every step of the way.

However, the brutality of war soon strips him of his innocence. As he fights in the trenches and confronts the atrocities of the conflict, his love for Elise becomes a beacon of hope amidst the darkness. The film depicts a heartbreaking journey of self-discovery, exploring the struggle between duty and love, as both characters face the devastating impact of a war that will change their lives forever.
