The Loved One

In a world where love intertwines with death, a young British man arrives in Los Angeles in search of his future, but finds himself in an emotional and ethical quagmire. His life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with a beautiful and enigmatic woman, who turns out to be the star of an unusual cemetery marketed as a "garden of eternal love." Here, death is not just an end, but an extravagant celebration filled with artifice and a touch of grotesque humor.

As the protagonist navigates this peculiar ecosystem, he encounters a gallery of eccentric characters, including an unconventional embalmer with dreams of grandeur and a dysfunctional family that views death as their main business. The tension escalates when he becomes the center of a love triangle, where his affection for the young woman clashes with the macabre ambitions of those around him.

As the story unfolds, the audience is swept away into a whirlwind of absurd and comedic situations, where the values of wellness culture and the treatment of the afterlife are called into question. With a vibrant visual style and dark humor, the unruly narrative prompts the audience to reflect on love, life, and inevitable mortality. Ultimately, it reveals how, even in the most unexpected places, love can flourish, albeit at a tumultuous price.
