Luther

In the tumultuous context of 16th-century Germany, an Augustinian monk named Martin Luther plunges into a deep spiritual crisis that leads him to question the practices and doctrines of the Catholic Church. Carrying the weight of his doubts, Luther realizes the corruption and sale of indulgences that pervade the Vatican, a system that promises forgiveness in exchange for money. Burning with indignation and convinced that salvation cannot be purchased, he begins to challenge ecclesiastical authority.

As tensions rise, Luther crafts his "95 Theses," a set of proposals that openly criticizes religious corruption and advocates for a return to the original teachings of Christianity. His bold stance sparks a fervent debate that resonates throughout Europe, generating both passionate support and dangerous enmities. As he comes into conflict with powerful figures, he becomes a symbol of the struggle for freedom of conscience and religious reform.

As his fame grows, Luther finds himself trapped between his desire to reform the Church from within and the relentless persecution of those who see his teachings as a threat. With a powerful narrative, the film explores the transformation of a simple cleric into a precursor of a revolution that will forever change the course of history and religiosity in the world. Along his journey, Luther discovers not only his voice but also the true meaning of faith and sacrifice.
