Based on a true story and the life of Sam Childers, this film follows the transformation of an ex-convict and biker whose heart opens when he realizes the devastating situation of children in South Sudan. Sam, portrayed by Gerard Butler, is a man who has lived on the edge of the law, struggling with addictions and a life of crime. However, his life takes an unexpected turn after a spiritual redemption experience that leads him to find his purpose in a broken world.
Deciding to do something meaningful, Sam travels to Africa and confronts the harsh reality of civil war and human trafficking in a crisis-stricken region. There, he discovers that many children are kidnapped and forced to become soldiers. Determined to make a difference, Sam not only begins to build an orphanage but also becomes a warrior in the fight for the lives of these innocents as well as in the conflict ravaging the area.
However, his mission is not without challenges, as he faces opposition from local governments and the complexity of war. The film explores Sam's inner struggle between his violent past and his desire for redemption while he seeks to build a better future for those children. The story is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have on the world, even when circumstances seem to be against them.
