In a world that feels aimless and a bit rusted, an alien from a distant planet arrives on Earth with a crucial mission: to save his species, which is on the brink of extinction due to lack of water. John, as he is called on Earth, possesses a striking appearance and astonishing technological knowledge, which draws the attention of curious humans. As he tries to make contact with his home and seek a solution for his people, he faces the complications of earthly life, loneliness, and the insatiable curiosity he ignites in those around him.

As he progresses in his mission, he becomes entangled in a sea of mundane problems, from the editorial ambitions of a cynical researcher to the intrigues of corporations seeking to exploit his innovations. Along the way, John enters into complicated relationships with humans, including a photographer whose worldview contrasts with his own reality. The struggle between his alien identity and his desire to belong to a world he does not understand leads him to make crucial decisions that impact all of humanity.

With a captivating narrative that blends science fiction with deep social commentary, an emotional odyssey unfolds that explores what it means to be human and the endless struggle for hope in a vast and often hostile universe. The poetic imagery and David Bowie's performance as the protagonist make this film an unforgettable journey.
