In a remote village in Nigeria during the British colonial era, an ambitious and charismatic young man, known for his wit and desire to climb the social ladder, finds himself caught between two cultures. Hoping to improve his fortunes, he works as an assistant to a British colonial officer, where his ability to navigate the complicated world of British bureaucracy leads him to believe that he can achieve a better life, away from the poverty that surrounds him. However, as he delves deeper into colonial culture, he also learns about the dangers of betrayal and the expectations that come with collaborating with the oppressors.

Our protagonist, filled with dreams and an overflowing sense of humor, faces dilemmas that challenge his loyalties: should he fully commit to the British who offer him power and wealth or stay true to his people and his roots? The arrival of a new, firm, and authoritarian colonial administrator triggers a series of events that shake his life and his village, leading him to make crucial decisions that will change his fate and that of his loved ones. Amid the struggle for identity and colonial tensions, the young man must find his way in a world that seems to be against him, exploring the complexities of loyalty, sacrifice, and the pursuit of a better future in times of constant conflict.
