In this moving yet humorous story, we follow Vladimir Ivanoff, a Soviet jazz musician who is touring New York City with his orchestra. Upon arriving in the Big Apple, fate plays an unexpected card when Vladimir, captivated by the culture and splendor of American freedom, decides he cannot return to the oppressive life in the USSR. With a brave leap of faith, he escapes and seeks asylum at the United States Embassy, confronting a completely new world.

As he adapts to his new life, Vladimir encounters the challenges of starting over in a city that never sleeps. From the complications of language to the struggle of finding stable work, each step he takes is a blend of laughter and challenges. Along the way, he forges a special connection with a young New Yorker of Cuban descent, leading him to explore not only his identity but also the meaning of love and freedom.

The story is infused with emotions and reflections on the American dream, uprooting, and the search for a place to belong. Through Vladimir's eyes, the viewer experiences the magic and reality of a new beginning in a country full of opportunities, but also obstacles. With a vibrant musical backdrop, this film invites us to remember what it truly means to be free.
