In this fun action comedy, a tough and seasoned CIA agent, who has spent his life trapped in undercover missions, finds himself in an unexpected situation when his latest assignment is compromised. After a fiasco that forces him to be reassigned, he is tasked with keeping an eye on an apparently normal family in a suburban neighborhood. The problem is that his new target is a single mother who has no idea that her life is about to change dramatically.
The agent, who has always worked alone and maintained a serious persona, must adapt to this new reality. Things get complicated when the mother’s daughter, a clever and curious 9-year-old girl, discovers him while he is carrying out his espionage duties. Instead of being frightened, the girl sees in him an exciting opportunity and decides to make a deal: she will teach him how to be “normal” in the human world in exchange for not making his life miserable and helping him with his secret mission.
As the agent becomes more involved with the family, he begins to question his own choices and the meaning of truly being connected to other people. Amidst comical moments of clumsy espionage and the sweetness of friendship, the film becomes a reflection on the value of relationships and the surprises that life can offer, even for a spy with a heart of stone.
