In a peaceful little town in New England, the arrival of an enigmatic antique dealer, Leland Gaunt, unleashes a series of dark and disturbing events. Gaunt opens a peculiar shop where he sells items that seem to fulfill all the desires of his customers, albeit at a high price. However, each object comes with a dark cost: a small act of evil or a betrayal that ultimately undermines the morality of the one who acquires it.
The town's sheriff, Alan Pangborn, begins to suspect that these gifts have a sinister background when a series of fights and conflicts erupt among the neighbors, all caught in the web of manipulation spun by the cunning merchant. As the townspeople, seduced by what they believe to be magical objects, indulge in their darkest desires, tension grows and violence ensues.
As the atmosphere becomes increasingly dangerous, Alan becomes the only one capable of unraveling the mystery surrounding Gaunt, who seems to be pulling the strings of the town's social decay. In the midst of an ever more desperate struggle between good and evil, the sheriff must confront his own demons to free the community from the dark spell that threatens to consume everything. In this battle, the line between desire and desperation blurs, leaving each character teetering on the edge of the abyss.
