In a small village in 19th century Italy, a humble carpenter named Geppetto dreams of having a son. One day, while working in his workshop, he finds a magical piece of wood that, when carved, comes to life as a puppet in the shape of a boy. Named Pinocchio, this little wooden being has a heart full of curiosity and longings to be a real boy. However, his path will not be easy.
Pinocchio experiences various adventures as he tries to understand the world around him. Together with his inseparable friend, Jiminy Cricket, he encounters enchanting and dangerous beings, from a cunning fox who wants to take advantage of him to a warlike sea monster. Pinocchio's desire to be a real boy leads him down risky paths, such as the tempting offer to attend puppet school.
As he strays from his father Geppetto's teachings, Pinocchio learns that bad decisions have consequences and that truth is the key to his redemption. On his journey, he discovers the true meaning of friendship, sacrifice, and the unconditional love of his creator. With the help of his friends and by confronting his own fears, he must find his way back home, where he will realize that love and courage are the true qualities that will turn him into a flesh-and-blood boy.
