In a small American town, a group of soldiers who have experienced extreme situations encounters a threat from another world. After an unexpected encounter with an alien hunter, one of them, Quinn McKenna, returns home to discover that his son, a boy with a special talent for technology, has accidentally activated a signal that alerts others of his kind. Now, the young boy has become a target, and Quinn, realizing the imminent danger, joins a group of misfits, including a couple of troubled veterans and a professor with knowledge about these beings, to try to save him.
