In a not-so-distant future, the world stands on the brink of chaos. The Cold War has reached its peak, and international tension has nations in a constant state of alert. Amidst this geopolitical backdrop, a Russian cardinal is released after decades of imprisonment and makes his way to the Vatican City, where a conclave is taking place to elect the new Pope. With his experience and humanitarian vision, the cardinal becomes an unexpected candidate in the papal election.

As the conclave progresses, political and ecclesiastical powers face difficult decisions, and each cardinal presents their own visions for the future of the Church and humanity. However, internal strife is not the only challenge; the outside world also demands drastic changes. The chosen candidate faces the dilemma of how to respond to global crises, from the threat of nuclear war to poverty and hunger.

Set against a backdrop of intrigue and philosophy, the new Pope not only seeks peace among nations but simultaneously attempts to reconcile humanity's past and future. The film explores the role of spiritual leadership in times of crisis and raises profound questions about faith, sacrifice, and hope in a divided world. With a brilliant cast and moving direction, this story becomes a powerful reflection on the struggles of the 20th century and the eternal fight for peace.
