In a desperate attempt to revitalize his career, a true crime author moves with his family into an old house, where a mysterious set of video tapes becomes the focus of his attention. Initially, what seems like a research project transforms into a terrifying obsession as he discovers that the recordings reveal a series of murders of different families, all connected to a dark ritual. The violence of these crimes, filmed in a strange homemade quality, unleashes a series of supernatural events that appear to be linked to an ancient evil entity known as Bughuul.
As his mental health deteriorates, the author realizes that the nightmares he saw on the tapes are beginning to manifest in his real life. His increasingly unsettled wife starts to notice the changes in her husband and the strange atmosphere surrounding them. Their son also becomes the target of inexplicable episodes of terror. As the story unfolds, tension grows, revealing dark secrets of the house and the past of those who lived there. With each glimpse at the videos and a mounting sense of doom, the family finds themselves trapped in a cycle of horror, where escaping the grip of Bughuul seems almost impossible. The narrative explores the limits of curiosity, guilt, and sacrifice in a deadly game from which no one is safe.
